This
light weight 75 mm diameter EDF unit comes out of the box ready
to use. Included with this EDF unit is a snap on streamline tail
cone. This fan has the EM-400 brushed motor included which is a
speed-400 class motor. This fan comes in two designs, a four
bladed impeller and a six bladed impellor. After comparing the
specifications, Models By John has decided to sell only the four
bladed version as it produces the most thrust at still a
reasonable amp draw.
This fan
was designed to be internally mounted with a intake and thrust
tube ducting so the best efficiency can be obtained. Do not use
this fan without a intake ring or ducting of some sort, your
thrust and watts will be lower.
The
impellor can be removed by loosening the two set screws on the
adaptor and a allen key wrench is included in with the unit.
This is so the replacement of motors can be done easily if
required.
Although
this fan was never designed to compete with the more advanced
and expensive EDF's on the market in this class, it was designed
so everyone could afford to experiment with a reasonable sized
jet, being a single or multi fan plane. To get the most out of
this fan, keeping the all up weight of your plane is very
important, so Lipos are the way to go with this unit.
